When Life Surprises You with a Turning Point

Hello again, friends! I just wanted to give a little update on my blog & let you know why I’ve not been present much, commenting, or blogging.

Almost 2 weeks ago, my mother passed away unexpectedly at 57 years old. Everything got put on hold to not just deal with this emotionally, but be there for family and make arrangements.

I debated how much to share on my blog and on Facebook, since I prefer not to post anything too personal. But the personal stuff is just as much part of my life as decorating and DIY projects.  Perhaps my hesitance was really in being vulnerable in sharing this.

We had a memorial and celebration service for my mother yesterday and many  more people than I expected showed up. It was amazing to see and hear how many lives she touched. My mom was a retired sign language interpreter and worked in our city’s public school system, so a lot of former deaf students appeared. Seeing her love reflected back through them affirmed how important it is to follow your passions.

Thankfully, I’ve had a lot of love and support through this journey and life is starting to feel somewhat normal again. My heart has never felt this full from everyone’s thoughts, prayers, and offers. I will be browsing all the link parties I linked up to in my previous post while I start getting into the swing of things again.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and cheers to a great week! And as cliché as it may sound, please tell someone today how grateful you are for them. Give them a hug to show you love them. Even if you just hug yourself.  Nothin wrong with that. 🙂

  1. My deepest condolences on your loss. So very hard to lose a parent, especially when it is so sudden and unexpected.
