My Weekly Gratitude

Here’s to another week of life! This is my top 10 things I’m grateful for this week:

Endings (and new beginnings). This past Saturday marked the end of a local weight loss challenge I was in. (You can find out more and see video here.) It’s been a rich experience that I’m very glad I did. Plus, I lost almost 25 lbs., made it to the top 10, and met some beautiful people.

The human body. It’s just such an amazing machine. I’m thankful for everything my body gives me, especially the ability to tell you when something’s wrong. These past few days I’ve eaten poorly & man, did it piss off my entire digestive system. But there’s a bright side to that, because pain/discomfort tells you when something;s wrong. And I’m listening finally.

Helpful salespeople who don’t work on commission. I’m in the market for a new laptop, so I ventured into Best Buy to do some window shopping. One of the sales clerks was very helpful and gave me a few tips & items to look for. I kinda wish he was paid commission because I’d be more likely to purchase something from him!

Easy clothing alterations. A few months ago I created skinny jeans from a pair of bootlegs, using Pretty Providence’s tutorial as a guide. Being quite the hippy girl, it’s tough finding a perfect fitting pair of jeans. I’ve found denim that isn’t as thin as that in the actual skinny jeans works best, so this tutorial was a godsend!

Dishwashers. Now that I cook at home most days, it doesn’t take long for the sink to fill up with dirty dishes. I no longer have to store dirty dishes waiting to be washed in my oven! And when I do have to wash dishes, it’s only the few pots & pans that can’t go in the dishwasher. Easy peasy.

iTunes. This is the last season of Mad Men—any other superfans out there? I choose not to have cable (I’d never get anything done), but iTunes allows me to be current with this show in lieu of waiting for its DVD. There’s a small fee, but it’s soooo worth it for this show. Oh how I will miss these characters & the wonderful set design of this show…

Positive people. While shopping yesterday, I sat in my car getting ready to get out but had my car door open. As I was getting out, I noticed a woman waiting for me so she could get into her car (next to me). I felt like an ass & apologized and her response was so cool: “Who can be upset for having to stand outside on such a beautiful day?” Her positive outlook helped put things into perspective for me and perked up my mood.

Reruns of 90s sitcoms. It doesn’t matter that I’ve seen every episode of Friends and Seinfeld. I still watch them just about every day & still LOL. You can’t touch the classics.

Three-paycheck months. I get paid every 2 weeks, so I create my budget based on this. When those months come that I get a check 3 times—winning. And mama needs a new laptop…

The chance to wake up every day. No matter how crazy or unexpected this world is, I’m always glad to be a part of it.

Feel free to leave a comment & share what you’re grateful for this week!
